sld:
1) I also use XMPlay - it does very well against
Foobar, which I also use and have for a while now.
The Foobar interface remains painfully spartan
but the font adjustments are very vision friendly,
which sadly matter a very great deal to me now.
2) I lurk, I watch. The results I see speak for
themselves. I now rarely participate in forums -
it's largely a waste of my time.
3) If you'd taken a wee bit care to notice, I
commented on 1.0 Final - not beta. I rarely run
beta software (EAC being the notable exception and
everyone knows it's a final anyway).
At any rate, it's good to see you still around Old
Man. :) :) ;)
I was an avid supporter of foobar before and I still think it's a very good player, but the recent politics of getting rid of unwanted plug-ins by just removing the supported hooks look a bit like dictatorship to me... and now you get BANNED on the foobar forums for just asking about blacklisted components or even the contents of the blacklist itself. It's time to look for alternatives.
MiniLyrics is an amazing lyrics plugin for iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc. It will download and display lyrics automatically, you can catch every word. MiniLyrics can save lyrics in mp3 files, you can view lyrics on iPod touch or iPhone.

@dhry:
The reason they did that was because they made MAJOR API/plugin changes since the 0.9.x line and the version of those plugins that you had installed WERE confirmed to cause the application to crash. That's why they delete them. Go get updated versions for them.
@sld:
I believe they want to make torrent distribution the standard for all releases.
@roj:
Relax. The forums are fine. They just don't like idiots. :p
