Firefox 3.5 description:
Firefox 3.5 has been released and is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux in more than 70 languages. This release represents the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of thousands of contributors throughout the Mozilla community and around the world.
Firefox 3.5 has a huge number of additions and improvements for both users and web developers alike, including: robust new user privacy features; support for high quality open video and audio; a new, high performance JavaScript engine (and a host of other performance and speed improvements); downloadable fonts that will fundamentally change how we view typography and the web; powerful new developer features such as location aware browsing, canvas features, worker threads, native JSON, and media queries; and so much more. Firefox 3.5 is essentially an upgrade to the Web itself.

What's New in Firefox 3.5
Firefox 3.5 is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering platform, which has been under development for the past year. Firefox 3.5 offers many changes over the previous version, supporting new web technologies, improving performance and ease of use. Some of the notable features are:
- Available in more than 70 languages. (Get your local version!)
- Support for the HTML5 and elements including native support for Ogg Theora encoded video and Vorbis encoded audio. (Try it here!)
- Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.
- Better web application performance using the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
- The ability to share your location with websites using Location Aware Browsing. (Try it here!)
- Support for native JSON, and web worker threads.
- Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.
- Support for new web technologies such as: downloadable fonts, CSS media queries, new transformations and properties, JavaScript query selectors, HTML5 local storage and offline application storage, text, ICC profiles, and SVG transforms.

I began using Firefox 1.5 after reading rave reviews about it. I was impressed since there was greater support from website owners, meaning that there was less compatibility problem in interacting with various websites. I was already used to tab browsing, and this added to my happiness in using it. At that time I was into PTC sites, and these sites were Firefox friendly compared to the other browser I had been using. The availability of many plug-ins or add-ons was not the reason for me to look at Firefox with respect. It was what it had to offer.
Installing Firefox was easy. The default grey colour was not to my liking. Navigating the menu was not a hassle. The available functions or features made it stand out among several browsers.
Firefox advanced to version 2, which had several improvements over the previous version. I became a happier person, and even recommended it to several of my friends and acquaintances. Sad to say my love affair with Firefox lost its intensity. I did not expect it to happen. Maybe a sudden popularity made Firefox think it could do no wrong.
The introduction of version 3 was the turning point in my views towards it. This was aided by the fact that my previous favourite browser had become better in many areas. Below are several of the things which made me turn away from Firefox for most of the time.
The browser has become bloated. The size of the actual program installed without plug ins is greater than another full featured browser. With each plug in installed, the size gets bigger. It uses more memory, and has some stability issues. I like opening at least two windows with many active tabs. It seems that Firefox, at least the version that I use, is unable to handle such activity. It would suddenly crash, seemingly not responding, or simply disappears from the screen. This may be related to my computer’s configuration, but I had no problem with the other browser. It is quite annoying to lose work being done. Whenever I had to use Firefox I was limited to around six tabs if I want to reduce the possibility of it crashing. This is definitely not to my preference.
With its size Firefox is not faster than the other browser. Theoretically it should be at least as fast in keeping up with the performance of its previous versions. It is even worse when there are many open tabs. There were times when I had to abort the browser using task manager. The frustration sometimes is beyond description, since I usually carry bout many online activities at the same time.
One of the plus ins that I like is McAfee Site Advisor. This gives the security status of a website that I am visiting. I have used it many times whenever I thought there was a need to do so, since my default browser is not supported by McAfee Site Advisor. Nevertheless it does not make Firefox more secure. The ability to add more toolbars can be a boon, because the toolbars can be activated as needed. On the other hand one can get carried away, and have toolbars which are not actually needed. I admit guilt on this matter.
I do not believe that Firefox is as secure as some people like to make others believe. My opinion is based on the data available on the Secunia website, and personal experience. The data collated on Secunia indicates that the Firefox team takes a comparatively longer time to patch up a security breach. Of course when compared to Internet Explorer it is way better, but I think we should have an objective thinking on this matter, and not to be blinded by emotions or excessive passion. Secunia may be biased, but my experience in using Firefox seems to support the data. It seems that I am not the only one having problems with it, so I could not have imagined things.
I noticed that whenever I had Firefox running for more than 6 hours the chances of my computer hijacked became greater. I got tired of having to reset everything. What annoyed me many times in the past was that one money earning program simply stopped running, meaning I earned nothing during the times the hijacking was not realised. There was also the fear of having sensitive data stolen via the controlling computer. Other than that there were more trojan infiltrations and attacks. In short in the long run I have to spend more time on setting things right, such as running anti virus and anti spyware programs. Since I prefer being online for many hours at a time, and many times for several days at a stretch, I have to use a more stable and more secure browser. At this time Firefox does not shine on either aspect.
The support given by many independent programmers is insufficient to sway my opinion. After all I use less than 10 plug ins. I prefer security over indulgence. Nevertheless there are still websites which ‘force’ me to use Firefox. I do it with a heavy heart, due to the fear of having my computer hijacked yet again. Even so I still harbour some hope that Firefox will improve further, especially in addressing security issues.
In conclusion Firefox 3.5 is a good browser. Anyone who is not a heavy Internet user may not find any issues with it, and may even love it. People like me should take caution when using it.

Although I could have a much worse browser, I still find myself disliking this version of Mozilla Firefox a lot for several reasons. I don’t think I have ever had as many problems with Mozilla on whole as I have had with this one too. However, I am afraid to update it to another version or install another browser, since that might take up too much space on my computer, and I don’t want any more lag.
One of the reasons why I dislike Mozilla Firefox 3.5.7 is because I notice that it crashes more than any other version of Mozilla Firefox I have ever had on my computer, and I have used Mozilla and used to update regularly for about three years. This version crashes at least every day, and for no particular reason that I can understand.
Nevertheless, one thing I like about it is that the layout is a little bit more attractive and user friendly than the other Mozilla Firefox versions I have used in the past. So now, instead of going into file and clicking “new tab” to create a new tab, I can simply click on the plus right after my open and running tab.
